March DT Reveal

For the month of March I was given the pink Lush line by MME. Here is a link to one of the papers that I was given. A PILE OF SCRAP We were asked to create a mini album but not purchase an album like a chipboard one. So I decided since I have always wanted to do a paperbag album I would do a smaller version from the standard lunch bag size. I purchased the mini paperbags at Michaels and put my mini album together with 4 of the bags.

Along with the patterned paper I was given prima flowers, MME ribbon to match and the flocked chipboard letters my MME. I had so much fun working with this paper and I can't wait to use the brown lush paper I purchased to make a mini album for my mother in law.

Now for pictures of the album. NB stands for New Brunswick. This album is all about our first family vacation in August 2004 with our 6 month old daughter. I also made tags to fit inside the pockets of the paper bags. They have additional photos on them and a bit of journaling. For more pictures check out the design team gallery over at APOS.

March APOS challenge

My challenge for this month was to do a layout about The Year you were born. I had so much fun finding out what happened in 1976 and also the prices of things. The hardest part for this challenge was finding a photo of just me. I don't like having my photo taken at all so there are very few photos of me and if there is one I usually have someone in the picture with me. This photo is from my Highschool graduation ceremony. My parents took this picture before we were heading out for the ceremony.

The new addition to our family!

Sydney has been wanting a pet for quite some time. One day she wants a dog, then the next a cat and then the next a fish. I would love to get a dog but just don't have the time right now to commit to such a cute cuddly animal. Cats are great too but I am allergic to them. So that left but one thing...the fish. So on Valentines Day Grandma and Grandpa took her out for her birthday celebration. They have a tradition where they take out their grandchild for brunch and then off to do some shopping. She had no idea what they were going to buy her and boy was she surprised! He now sits on top of her dresser in her room. Partly so her brother doesn't stick his hands in the bowl and partly because this is her pet and I want her to take care of him. (I of course will help her out)

We have begun!

I have been a bad blogger but there is a reason. House renovations!

About 5 months ago my husband got a new job in Kitchener, ON. Ever since then we knew we would eventually have to move from London to Kitchener. So in order to sell this house we have started to do some renovations. Last weekend we worked hard as well as both my mom and my mother in law to start working on the master bedroom and my daughters room. I am happy to say that as of today we are almost done my daughters room. We just need to wait for her new bedroom door to arrive this Thursday so we can install it. We have an older home (30+ years) and it has all the original trim and doors. We decided to replace all trim and put in all new 6 panel doors. Sydney's room started out last weekend with purple walls and here is what it looks like now. I am really pleased with how it turned out and can't wait to finish our bedroom and then post pics!!

February DT reveal!

For the February reveal I received the Love Notes line from Making Memories. What a fabulous and versatile line of paper to work with! I had fun with it but it also challenged me as I have never purchased Valentines paper before and don't really take photos on Valentines Day.

For my first layout I decided to create it before the photos were taken. I knew what I wanted to do for the theme. I plan on baking cookies with the kids and will add in the photos once I get them developed.

This next layout I wanted to keep it simple. My daughter (who just turned 6) took this photo last summer when we were in Niagara Falls.

My heart truly does belong to my husband. I think from the first moment I met him I knew he was the one. For this layout I put one of the patterned papers from the line in behind the cardtock and then tore a bit of the cardstock and stapled it down. I used one of the bingo cards from Jenni Bowlin that came with my design team stuff.

When I first saw this sketch at 52 sketches I knew I had to use this paper for it. I think I have decided I am a scrapper that likes to make things simple. So until I learn more about this wonderful hobby I am going to stick with what I know. The journaling reads " You are our best valentines surprise ever! Born just before Valentines day on Feb 11th, 2004.

A scrappy weekend!

After several weeks of little inspiration and really just being busy from the holidays I got back into the swing of things and did quite a few pages. I even started organizing my supplies a bit and have some more to do but hope to get it done by the weekend so I will know where to find things and start using stuff I bought over a year ago.

This first layout I did for the challenge I gave the ladies over at APOS. I asked them to do a winter layout but to include a winter quote in their layout. I used my cuttlebug snowflake template on the white strip of paper at the top and added some stickles and liquid pearls on the snowflakes on the bottom.

For this layout I was so proud of the train paper piecing I did. I hand drew it myself. First time ever trying that and I am very happy with the outcome. I also did this layout for Candace's challenge at APOS. She wanted us to use felt. I had some felt letters that I used the title.

I scraplifted this layout from a wonderful lady I have met at a mommy forum I am on. I just loved the layout she did and knew it would be perfect for my sons birthday pictures.

My Fav Five from 2009

I wanted to take a look at what I created in 2009 and thought it would be nice to post my favourite five layouts or cards. I didn't get as much scrapping done as I would have liked but I still did more than I ever have in past years. A lot of that I owe to the inspiration I get over at APOS. There are some very talented ladies over there!!! These are in no particular order...really if you asked me I am not sure I could say what my #1 favourite is.
